A friend living in Avida Land Antipolo asked me the other day about how to record a Skype call. Fortunately, I found the wondrously shared techie thoughts from a geeky gal over at TheGeeketteSpeaketh.com

In her blog post entitled The Challenges of Recording a Skype Call, we learn that she used a program called Skype Call Recorder, which was perfect for her since she is using an Asus Eee PC.

And yes, we’re talking about open source software here, so you can safely keep your credit card and wallet away from the computer. There’s no need to spend extra cash just so that you can get your Skype recording going, right?

Now going back to the experience of the Geekette, she did face some challenges when saving the recording to her SD card, but was able to fix things by using the proper format.

If you’re not using an Asus Eee PC, you can try using a software called Pamela to record your Skype conversations. Please test it first, though, to see if you will be satisfied with the quality of the recording. (I was not that happy, but who knows? The quality might suit you.)

What’s so great about recording a Skype call? Assuming you have permission from the person you’re speaking with, you can take that recording and have it transcribed. If the content is useful enough, you might even put up both the recording and the transcript for sale. Afterall, a lot of people hunger for learning, and will use the internet to satisfy that need.

Google, one of the leading search engine in the world, put so much importance on placing on the quality and relevancy. Most especially they are now a public listed company and in order to keep their shareholders and its users happy, the quality of the returned results are given extreme importance.

For the same reason, doing the wrong things with your Adsense, (may also known as Google affiliates programs) accounts, whether intentionally or unintentionally, may result the account termination . (5) Link purchasing or selling. Google does say they will penalize sites that selling links that pass page rank. You can sell or buy links to get benefits of traffic but not page rank since it may affect your site search ranking overall.

(6) Gateway pages. This is similar to cloaking page, and most likely it is loaded with keyword targeted content that helps the mother site to gain the site search positioning. Many SEO companies offer that as a high ranking strategy but it is against the quality guidelines of search engines and simply don’t do it!

Many of the above strategies apply to most search engines and not just entirely for Google. By having a mind set of building your Adsense with your content and not the bots, you are surely will bring more traffic and hence income to your sites.

Choose a nice open area or a hotel reception and have the meeting there.

Organise your business from the word go:

Part of your organisation skills should include your finances. Work out how much it will cost you per hour to work before you make a profit. Go along to your nearest government Small Business centre and talk to them. Get your booking form or contract checked out and see if there is any money that you can get for starting up. You may also be offered courses on taxation, health and safety and in some areas complete courses on using standard software.

Since “any downtime” for companies with large sales volumes risk losing so much, the next question they have when seeking a merchant account provider is “how fast can you fix our Point-of-Sale Terminals?” They want a provider who is able to solve problems fast. Having a POS Terminal down for 48 hours is just not acceptable to a large processing company, they want the problem fixed in hours or minutes.

Notice how the last question they ask is “How much?”. Now I have to admit, very few large volume companies have to negotiate for low rates because every company will automatically bid competitively for their business, but the point being they don’t care who is cheaper by 10 basis points, even though this is when 10 basis points means 1000’s more in fees every year. The larger corporations understand, that their is more to lose with their sales when their credit card processing system is down then it is to pay a little more in rates, including customer sastisfication. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for!” Companies that process large debit and credit card volumes are only looking for “fair” rates, they would rather pay more and know that their payment processing solution is reliable.
